president's message

by Ivey Davis

Welcome! Alpha Gamma Alpha has been home to Alpha Chi Omegas in the Atlanta area for over 75 years. Our membership base is very diverse, from new college graduates to 50+ year members, and includes a wide variety of backgrounds and collegiate experiences. We plan events that meet the interests and needs of all types of women, from professionals to stay-at-home moms to retirees. We come together "To Seek the Heights" and to continue to build friendships through the bond of Alpha Chi Omega.

Alpha Gamma Alpha meets monthly to socialize, network, support our local collegiate chapters (Tau at Brenau, Beta Sigma at UGA, and Epsilon Phi at Georgia Tech), conduct chapter business, or participate in a philanthropic activity. We have several different groups that meet as a subset of Alpha Gamma Alpha. The Hera Group meets during the daytime; and the Lyre and Olive's Groups meet in the evening or on a weekend. Please take a moment to browse our site or look at our calendar to see what upcoming event interests you.

I hope you'll take the time to see what Alpha Gamma Alpha has to offer you - opportunities for a lifetime!

About us

The Hera Group

The Hera Group plans daytime events which can include a guest speaker or an educational program. For example, once the group invited a representative from the Herbal Society that focused on growing and cooking with herbs. Another program featured an expert on butterflies. The Hera group meets on the 3rd Wednesday of most months from September through May at 10:30 AM. We have a short business meeting, program, and lunch at the hostess's home. Lunch is provided, but we do need a head count. For more information, email Gail Roper (404-633-1957)

Lyre Group

The Lyre Group plans night and weekend events that range from meeting for dinner or happy hours, a new art exhibit, or going to the corn maze with the kids! Sometimes it's girls only and other times spouse/dates are welcome. The Lyre Group typically meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month for dinner and drinks. We have such a wonderful time hanging out and meeting new friends. As a member, you will receive E-vites with details of our events. Please be sure to mention if you are new to Alpha Gamma Alpha or to the Lyre Group in your E-vite reply. We want to welcome you properly! If you are not getting the E-vites from Alpha Gamma Alpha, or if you would like to make a suggestion for a location, please contact Amanda Hall.

Olive's Group

Calling all alumnae who are looking for that "just right" dinner meeting group, social yet infused with the spirit of sisterhood! Maybe Hera daytime meetings don't fit your schedule, and the Lyre nightlife just isn't you; if so, then we may be just what you've been looking for! If you'd like to be added to this group's email invite list, please email or call Vivian Vlass Burns at or 404-428-5992.

The Carnation Group

The Carnation Group is one of Alpha Gamma Alpha's newest groups, aimed at making sisterhood more convenient for AXO alumnae east of Atlanta near Conyers and Covington! This group offers a variety of meetings throughout the year from luncheons to coffee dates to dinner gatherings! If you'd like to be added to the Carnation Group's email invite list, please send your name and email to carnation@axoatlanta.org.

National Mission Statement: To encourage our membership to provide support to victims of domestic violence through auspices of agencies providing services to victims and to assist in the development and implementation of educational programs and hands-on activities designed to eliminate domestic violence.
